Burlington Lions Club

December 29, 2008

Dear Friends,

Happy Holidays!

The Burlington Lions Club would like to thank you for your sponsorship in the WIlliam Hauke, Sr. Golf Tournament on August 3, 2008. This annual golf event was a huge success due to your participation. Record donations were raised for the Lions Eye Glass Program and the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This event would not have been as successful if not for all our generous sponsors, and we would especially like to thank our two major sponsors, the Gibney Family Foundation and The William Hauke, Sr. Family. Our club is proud to be considered "Knights of the Blind", a challenge issued by Helen Keller in 1925, and we will continue, especially in these precarious times, to help those in our community. Thank you again for participating and supporting the Burlington Lions Club.

We look forward to seeing you all at next year's tournament.

Sincerely,

Bill Lanzetta

On behalf of the Chill Kids, the Burton Women's Association, and The Chill Foundation, I'd like to thank you very much for your contribution for our Chill Spa night that was held on October 29.

The Spa Night was a success: we had approximately 75 participants, and we raised over $4,000. This will allow more than 8 kids to participate in the program this season. For a small non-profit like Chill, this is huge. And we couldn't have done it without you!

Thanks again, and we hope we can count on you again next year!

Sincerely,

Barbara A. Peters

Dear Mr. Noyes:

Thank you for your generous gift of $35.00 in support of the Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride that took place on Sunday, August 17, 2008.

All proceeds from this ride will directly benefit the pediatric cancer programs at Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care. With your support and the support of other riders, we will be able to continue the many services upon which our patients and their families depend.

Our pediatric oncology social worker assists children, their siblings and parents through this very difficult period of diagnosis and treatment. Child life specialists will continue to be available to children who are hospitalized as part of their cancer treatment. These services combined with advanced treatments provide the very best comprehensive cancer care possible.

Thank you again for your gift and your support of the Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride. We hope to see you next year for what promises to be another wonderful day of riding and celebration.

Sincerely,

Laura Simmers

Dear Lori,

This letter is to confirm, acknowledge, and appreciate your generous donation of 4 oil changes. The raffle and silent auction is our largest effort toward reaching our annual fundraising goal. It is so nice to have your donation be a prize in our 11th annual raffle drawing. Your donation was so appreciated and helped us raise over $1,600.00.

Our children, their families, and the teachers and staff of Pine Forest want to thank you for your commitment to making children and families a priority in this community.

We all know that efforts invested early reap positive benefits not only in the present but also in the future for children, families, and society as a whole. Thank you so much for your support of our innovative early childhood program.

Sincerely,

Wendy Lachapelle

Hi Lori:

We'd like to thank you very much for your contribution of gift certificates and goodie bag items for our Chill Spa Nite being held on October 29th.

The Spa Nite is sure to be a huge success, and we couldn't do it without the support of businesses like Noyes. We are expecting around 100 participants and over $2,500 in profits from the evening.

Thanks again, and we hope we can count on you again next year!

Sincerely,

Chill Learn-to-Ride Program

Chill Share The Passion

Who We Are

Chill is a nonprofit learn-to-ride program for at-risk inner-city kids. Every year, we take over 100 kids from each city to the slopes, beach, and skate parks and provide them with everything they need to learn to ride, including lift tickets, lessons, transportation, and head-to-toe gear. Kids want to learn these board sports because it's fun, but it takes several lessons and lots of hard work to learn. We use these board sports to help kids accomplish goals they never thought they could while teaching them some of the most important lessons of life--patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, integrity, and pride--all through positive adult role models who treat the kids with respect and encouragement.

Our History

Burton Snowboards founded Chill in 1995 in our hometown of Burlington, Vermont, to bring snowboarding to kids who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. The program had such an immediate and profound impact that we have added new cities each year since to bring Chill to as many kids as possible. We currently operate snow programs in over 14 cities in the U.S., Canada, and Australia that will reach well over 2000 kids in 2007-2008 alone. We are currently expanding our skate and surf programs to Los Angeles, North Carolina, Florida, New Hampshire, and Chicago.

Who We Serve

Chill serves youth who are challenged by a multitude of of issues: youth in group homes and foster care, addicts, those from the juvenile justice system, those from alternative schools and community centers, and those struggling with drugs, violence, excessive anger, or depression. Many of the kids have never left their cities, even their neighborhoods, and most have never been to the mountains. Chill gives all of these kids the chance to shed their labels of addict, delinquent, troublemaker, or underachiever, and, through these board sports find their own success in life.

What Our Partner Agencies Say

Chill works with about 20 agencies serving at-risk and underprivileged youth in each of our cities. These agencies tell us that Chill helps their kids achieve more in school, reach out to others, improve their attitudes and interest in life, stick to drug and alcohol treatment programs, overcome severe depression, and achieve goals where they have struggled before. One social worker told us, "Chill is a great example of something that is working and that does help our community. It combines therapy with real life experiences that put what they are learning into practice." An agency chaperone said, "It is exciting and extremely rewarding to be able to see changes [in the kids]. We really can recognize the benefits of this program."

What the Kids Say

Many kids tell us that, having participated in Chill, they now feel they can do anything. Eduardo from Los Angeles told us, "These six weeks were the best! I learned how to do things that I thought were not possible." And Stephania from Toronto said, "[Chill] has made me more confident and helped me to be a better person, in the sense that I can do anything I put my mind to."

Who Funds Us

About half of our funding and all of our equipment comes from our founder, Burton Snowboards. Corporations, foundations, and individuals generously donate the rest. With our administrative costs making up just 13% of our overall budget, our donors know their funds go directly toward changing the lives of underprivileged kids through the vehicle of snowboarding.
